Most homes are designed with a basement. It is common in private houses, as well as multi-storey buildings. At the same time basements can be different in size and purpose. But they all have one thing in common: the need for ventilation.
It is best to take care of a good ventilation in a private home at the stage of construction. To do this, you can make small windows in the basement (just above ground level), ventilation shafts, waterproofing and insulation of walls.
If this was not done beforehand, you can make a ventilation system with your own hands. In order to do the job correctly and efficiently, you should first determine the size of the basement. Based on the size, you can choose the location of the ventilation system. If the basement is very small, then one shaft with a small diameter with a partition in the middle is enough.
To make a shaft in the concrete, use a drill. Drill holes in a circle, sticking to the required diameter. Then inside this circle make a few holes. Next, use a hole punch and a special nozzle to make a ventilation duct. In this channel should be inserted a pipe through which the room will be ventilated.
Depending on the size of the basement, there may be a need for several such ducts, which will promote better air circulation. At the same time it is necessary to place them at opposite ends of the basement room.
It should be noted that inside the room, the ventilation shaft should be made low above the floor, so that the air through it entered the basement, and under the ceiling, for simultaneous air outlet. For ventilation, you can use both sewer pipes and specially designed for ventilation shafts.
Convey the shaft must be vertical (for this bend the pipe) and provided with a fungus, so that it does not fall into the precipitation, dust or debris. Do not forget to put a slab of fine but sturdy mesh. This will secure the basement room from mice and rats. The duct, which is responsible for air outlet outside, should end at a height of 2-3 m above the basement. To do this, it is most convenient to attach the pipe with special clamps to the wall of the house.
If it is not possible to take the shaft to the required height, you can make the simplest ventilation well. In the future, build a fan into the pipe, which will provide forced air extraction from the basement. At the same time, take care that the design creates as little noise as possible and is designed for a long period of operation.
Remember that all work that causes complexity, it is best to entrust to professionals. And if you are a jack of all trades, then the basement ventilation with his hands will not cause any problems.
