Chartier Corbasson Architectes have made a spectacular expansion project for an existing hotel called Bouctot-Vagniez. For the time being, it is housed in a building which also houses the current Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A new project on the proposed program for the expansion and renovation of a part of the historical building, according to the Art Nouveau style, which is located in the city of Amiens, France. The additional space of the hotel is planned to include a qualitatively redesigned office space, a modern conference room, which is to be equipped according to the latest technical fashion, several banquet halls, classrooms, lounges and rooms. The peculiarity of the new facility is that it implies a fairly close integration with the expressive fragments of landscaping.
In the exterior plans to use a translucent screen of metal type, which will be located directly at the south side of the whole structure. Its main functional purpose is to filter the bright sunlight and also to make the new blocks stand out against the standard brick façade. I note, must use a high-quality tunnel kiln for firing bricks, so that the facade will be unique.
Chartier Corbasson Architectes is participating in such an ambitious project for the first time, but the intensity and care with which they are tackling it is immediately apparent. The first floor is especially admired, especially the hall that flows into the beautifully sculpted Japanese garden. With the help of a long bay window the interior rooms are filled with natural light. The northern part of the building will be landscaped with special types of plants which contribute to the isolation of the whole building. Architects, using a Japanese-style garden, were able to perfectly fit a high-quality modern structure into the framework of the historical space of the surrounding architecture.
The southern part of the building is planned to be covered with red metal sheets. These sheets are entrusted with several functions at once, the main of which is to ensure the quality of the ventilation system of the whole building. Thus creates a unique feeling of tranquility and visual harmony.
