The results of a sociological study showed that almost 50% of Canadian women will be forced to quit if they are obliged to return to their jobs full-time.
In addition, more than half of the respondents said that they would prefer to refuse a promotion if they had to work in the office rather than from home.
91% of women said that in the future they would like to work fully or partially remotely from home.
In mid-May, Pollara Strategic Insights, together with CIBC and Enterprise Canada, conducted an online survey across Canada, in which randomly selected working women over the age of 18 participated.
A significant part of respondents replied that they would like to leave the opportunity to choose the type of work — remotely or in the office, as it was during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 70% of working women agree to refuse a promotion (if they work full-time in the office) in order to devote more time to their family and continue working remotely from home. Approximately 45% of those who participated in the survey said that they would prefer to quit if the employer would not allow them to work at least sometimes from home.
50% of women, answering questions, said they were ready to return to their jobs full-time, or combine work from home with work in the office. 8% said they have nowhere to go back to, as their employer no longer has an office.
51% of respondents answered that they are quite happy to work in the office, as before the pandemic; about 20% said that despite the fact that they do not really like the option of returning to the office, but it does not matter; but 18% do not really believe that the return to the previous form of work will be successful.
About 60% said that in the current conditions, they will have to make a choice “career or family”. For 46% of household chores have become more during the pandemic.
